It&#8217;s the only one through which I can still see the lava, which means I don&#8217;t dig up into something I&#8217;ve already found.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also a great way to get light from the surface down into the lower caves. Sunlight, while a slow way to kill germs, is pretty good at it, so getting actual sunlight into places that could be filled with weird bacteria and viruses, is something I generally consider a good idea.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve dug up most of the sand in my immediate area and in the immediate areas of most of the places where I&#8217;m mining, so I&#8217;m going to have to go north a bit and see what I find.
