Apologies for the One Among the Dead readers…

…I was at the Interaction 19 conference as one of Friday’s speakers last week. My plan was to fly home Saturday and spend Saturday night and Sunday playing some sweet Minecraft to spin down from the conference.

Then it snowed. And Seattle doesn’t really do well with large amounts of snow.

So I didn’t come home Saturday and by the time I got home Sunday night I was too tired to do much other than fall into bed.

Since I work for a living, and I’m busy writing a workshop for World IA Day Pittsburgh, I’m probably not going to get a chance to log on and play until the weekend at the earliest.

So we’re on hiatus, but we’re coming back. Just not tonight.

Reviews / Impressions of stuff I’ve read in 2018

A quick note – I’m moving some of my reviews from Goodreads / Amazon of the things I’ve read this year over to this site, so while the actual site will thread these into the right date order because I’m adjusting the dates to match, y’all may be seeing more than the usual volume of tweets / facebook updates. Happy vacation!

How is it the 26th already?

For those keeping track at home, I am totally not going to win NaNoWriMo this year.  There are a lot of reasons, from a trip to Las Vegas for work (it was no fun, I assure you, I’d’ve rather been writing) to a trip to North Carolina (ok that was for pinball and it was fun even if I sucked), to a hospital stay for my husband and a month that just seemed to get away from me.

But I do have the bones of a short story from it, even if it’s not what I expected to be writing, so there’s that.

Writing is important to me but it’s also something I have to work on to do… I imagine a lot of people are like that. Ironically for as much as I hate airports I write really really well on airplanes (because really, what else is there to do?) so if this story hasn’t come to fruition by February I’m flying then…

There is no hobby that doesn’t seem like work sometimes, but the rest of my hobbies don’t wake me up at night going “quick, write this down!”

Happy New Year!

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

And surely ye’ll be your pint-stoup!
and surely I’ll be mine!
And we’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

We twa hae run about the braes,
and pou’d the gowans fine;
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary fit,
sin’ auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidl’d in the burn,
frae morning sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
sin’ auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere!
and gie’s a hand o’ thine!
And we’ll tak’ a right gude-willie waught,
for auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak’ a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
